Meet the Trustees

Richard S Oliver OBE – Chair of Trustees

Richard has been a Trustee of the Foodbank since 2016 and became Chairman in 2021. The family moved to Devizes in 2009, having lived in the Middle East for around 15 years. Richard’s first degree had Economics and Politics as majors and he is particularly interested in Welfare Economics. He took a second degree in finance and was awarded an OBE in 2019 by HM Queen Elizabeth II for services to British business and to the community in the United Arab Emirates. He is also a Trustee of St James’s Church and of Devizes OpenDoors and is a local School Governor.

Jeremy Davidson

Jeremy has lived in Devizes now for more than 30 years.  Recently retired, he worked in Operational and Strategic Risk Management which often kept him away from home.
He is now looking forward to responsibilities that will keep him closer to home.

 

Sanjeen Payne-Kumar

Sanjeen has lived in rural Wiltshire for 30 years.  He has a background in finance and organisational transformation built up over many years in the energy sector, management consultancy and in the charity sector. The latter includes the Chair of Finance at the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Chair of Finance at Community First and as an Associate Non-Executive Director for the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

 

Bridget Selwyn

Bridget started her training as a social worker by working in London at various jobs. She went on to Queen’s College, Dundee, to do Social Administration.  She then got a job in Child Care working for the school care system in the Inner London Education Authority.
After 5 years, she had married, and they went to Zambia where Jasper worked as a teacher. During their 4 years there she also taught and ran a Nutrition group, using secondary school pupils to explain to villagers the importance of a balanced diet, and supplying food to depots at local primary schools.
After Zambia they went to Lesotho, where they lived in Maseru, the capital, and Bridget ran a playgroup for young children with a friend. Then they moved to the university town of Roma, and she was able to do a degree in Humanities.
They returned to England where she went to Southampton University to do a postgraduate diploma in Social Work. From 1981 to 2001 she worked for Wiltshire Council as a social worker. After 10 years of work she took further training as an Approved Social Worker specializing in Mental Health.
Bridget retired in 2002 and has helped the Fairtrade Group and volunteered for Age UK.

 

Jasper Selwyn

Jasper has been a trustee of the Foodbank for more than 10 years, and was Chairman from 2019 to 2021.  Before he retired he was a teacher, and earlier in his career he spent 11 years working in Africa, where he saw many people having to survive on very little.  He retired to Devizes 20 years ago, and has been involved with Fairtrade, Twinning, Age UK and Public Transport as well as the Foodbank.
